This is a Gothic style window grill measuring 22 inches tall by 16 inches wide. It is forged from 1/2 inch square mild steel with alternating pass-throughs, where one bar passes through a hole that has been slit and drifted square, not allowing the bars to turn once in the hole. This window grill is assembled using only traditional joinery.
There were parts that had to be forged after most of the pieces were permanently put together. The flames on the ends of the horizontal bars had to be done this way or else the holes could not be opened up.
