This is a Viking style seax. It was forged from shear steel made by Ric Furrer. The handle is black walnut with a leather spacer and a steel plate through which the tang has been peened. It has an over all length of 9 1/2 inches and a blade length of 5 1/4 inches. I have made a leather sheath with a piece of copper running over the seam.
